The leaves speak

This painting is part of the “The Sounds of the Woods” series.

Two branches of lemon verbena enclosed in lokta paper.

I express the sounds of the forest, of the trunk moving, of the bark cracking, of the vegetation deconstructing and groaning.

Using brisk movements and in light layers, I apply the acrylic paint and walnut husk to the fabric. The cannetille and the threads crisscross these areas, swarming. The clarity of the metal meets the darkness of the pictorial layers. Plants picked from the side of the road or at the bottom of a garden become a sculpture and an object of observation.
